3D MODEL

OVERVIEW

Drawing on the surreal aesthetics of Kevin Mack, Gabriel Moniz, and Filip Hondas, I created a liquified, alien-like 3D model that immediately conjures feelings of unease and disorientation. Influenced by composers such as Johann Johannsson, Max Richter, and Geoff Zanelli, I composed a soundtrack blending orchestral instruments (strings, horns, piano) with layered electronic textures to mirror the object’s unsettling qualities. This fusion of visual and auditory elements was further shaped by themes from the film Arrival, including mystery, communication, and the boundaries of human perception.

Through research into horror and sci-fi media, along with personal reflections on depersonalisation-derealisation disorder, I aimed to transport viewers into a state of apprehension and fascination. The final piece underscores the power of combining static visual media with an immersive score to deepen emotional impact.

RESULTS

The completed work successfully elicited a sense of disquiet and intrigue, echoing the thematic essence of Arrival and other influential media. Viewers noted how the haunting 3D form and layered soundscape worked together to evoke confusion, fear, and curiosity. This project reinforced the effectiveness of cross-disciplinary inspiration, drawing from both visual and musical influences, and opened avenues for further experimentation in merging static imagery with emotive composition.
